Safety & Sustainability Administrator

Type: Full-time permanent

Work hours: Monday to Friday; 7.5 hours per day

Work location: 9050 Shaughnessy Street, Vancouver, BC V6P 6E5

 

Reporting to the Senior Safety & Sustainability Specialist, the Safety & Sustainability Administrator will be responsible for supporting VUM’s Safety & Sustainability programs and initiatives. This individual will assist in collection, organization and review of Safety documents and procedures, conduct Safety training for new hires and periodic refresher training for employees, and provide general administrative support to the Safety & Sustainability team.

 

 As a Safety & Sustainability Administrator, your responsibilities are:

 

 

  • Work closely with the Senior Safety & Sustainability Specialist to drive a best-in-class Safety & Sustainability culture within VUM
  • Provide overall administrative support to the Senior Safety & Sustainability Specialist
  • Conduct Safety training for new hires, periodic refresher training to employees and assist in driving Safety Sustainability campaigns
  • Collect, organize and review Safety documents and procedures
  • Assist in ensuring accurate and timely reporting on First Aid, Hazard and Incident Reports
  • Conduct follow up activities to ensure completion and effectiveness of root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Initiate and assist with incident investigations
  • Maintain tracking databases for safety system
  • Conduct worksite observation tours and workplace inspections as required
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly management reports
  • Accurate data entry to maintain and update appropriate records and databases
  • Schedule meetings, assist in preparation of meeting materials and take meeting minutes
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

 

 You are an ideal Safety & Sustainability Administrator if you have:

 

 

  • Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Completion of Occupational Health & Safety Courses or equivalent considered an asset
  • Previous experience in a Health & Safety Administrator role considered an asset
  • Minimum two years’ experience in an administrative or customer facing role required
  • High level of confidentiality and respect of personal information and company policies
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to effectively present critical information to groups of people
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy and strong attention to detail
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to form decisions independently
  • Excellent written and numerical skills with strong proficiency in MS Office (WORD, EXCEL, PowerPoint)
  • Adaptable, self-starter attitude and thrives in a fast-paced dynamic environment with minimal supervision
